The Texas / Oklahoma game played every year in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, (formally known as the "Red River Shootout") was forced to change it's name to the "Red River Rivalry" because "shootout" was deemed "too violent."

Now, Texas Tech and Baylor have the "Shootout" at the Cotton Bowl. I ask again, W.T.Fuck?

Exhibit A. Below, is the lanyard that was under my seat as a giveaway at the 1998 Texas/OU game. This year, the ticket prices ($110) were exactly double the face value of the 1998 game, and under my seat I found a bag full of crappy coupons and advertisements...

5 Things I Think I Think About the Big 12

1. Nebraska is no where near as good as their rank. NU has the worst offense in the Big 12, and I don't see how that D can regroup without Suh; they will still dominate the Big 12 North.
2. Texas Tech fans may not be too receptive to Tuberville’s conservative style after falling in love with the wild-ass-circus Tech has become known for.
3. By November, Texas’ Garret Gilbert will be considered the best QB in the Big 12 and there won’t be much debate.
4. Texas A&M’s Jerrod Johnson will finally win a game on Tv…it will be his first.
5. Baylor’s Robert Griffin was electric as a freshman; I am stoked to see him play again.

Karen and Cook start to become concerned about Freddie's whereabouts. Karen gives Cook Freddie's notebook saying John Foster wants to hurt her. The police then raid Naomi's house after Cook's ex-girlfriend Arcia tells the police were he is hiding. Cook escapes and goes to Freddie's shed where he meets Effy who has been released from the psychiatric hospital. The rest of the gang meet there and decide to throw a party for Freddie's birthday even though he isn't there. Naomi professes her love / apologizes to Emily, who in turn takes her back. Cook heads outside briefly where he spots a figure observing Freddie's house and follows it, turning out to be John Foster. Meanwhile, Thomas and Pandora also make up. Cook breaks in to John's basement where he finds Freddie's blood stained clothes. Cook then seemingly hears Freddie's ghostly voice warning him to leave before Foster comes. This spooks Cook just before Foster arrives with the baseball bat, presumably the same one that Freddie was hit by. John knocks him to the ground and tells Cook he is nothing. Cook gets up laughing and admits he is a criminal and he has no sense, but then he tells John that he knows he killed Freddie. He then proceeds to attack John Foster as the episode ends. Their fates are left unknown.

Effy has been in a psychiatric hospital, but with the help of Anthea and her counsellor John Foster, she finds the will to get stronger and return home. Her life is now dictated by routine and self-control. Anthea has completely cleared out her room so that there’s no evidence of the old Effy remaining. She appears happy, clear and hopeful for the future. However, Anthea and Freddie become worried about her counsellor's methods when she begins to reject her identity, her friends and her bad memories. She relapses when she and Cook walk past the scene of Tony’s accident and returns to hospital. Effy is upset when Foster arrives and Freddie threatens him, telling him to stay away. Foster then invites Freddie to his home where he admits to using unusual methods in Effy's case and to having feelings for her. As Freddie tries to leave, Foster brutally attacks him with a baseball bat.

He visits Lara’s flat and discovers that she is a single mother with a young child. Lara’s ex-boyfriend, Liam, walks in and threatens JJ, telling him to leave Lara and his child alone. The date goes disastrously as a result, and Lara leaves. JJ finds her and they have sex at Lara’s. JJ returns home but his mother takes him to the clinic for more medication. JJ lets Lara meet Naomi and Emily. Upstairs, Emily tells JJ that Lara is using him to get back at her ex. JJ comments on Emily’s relationship, reducing her to tears. JJ’s family also think Lara is a slut and she leaves, offended. JJ becomes angry and beats up Liam when he sees him talking to Lara, who then calls off their relationship. JJ apologises to Liam who tells JJ he loves his child and for JJ to look after Lara. JJ serenades Lara and she takes him back.

Freddie and Effy live a hedonistic lifestyle in the Stonem house with Anthea gone. Freddie’s education suffers and when he tells Effy this, they argue and he leaves. Freddie returns to see Effy sticking newspaper cuttings about death onto the wall. Freddie becomes worried about Effy’s psychotic behaviour. He talks to his grandfather, Norman, and becomes determined not to make the mistakes with Effy that he perceived his father made with his deceased mother. Freddie takes Effy outside in an effort to cheer her up, but she becomes frightened. On their way home, Freddie mistakenly rides their rented rickshaw into a street festival where Effy panics. Katie finds her and they take her to Norman’s nursing home. He convinces Freddie that Effy needs clinical help. Freddie finds Effy lying in the toilets with her wrists slashed from attempted suicide. When Freddie goes to see Effy in hospital, she tells him to go away. He burns the cuttings in the Stonem house, cook suddenly appears, aparrently having broken out of prison. He convinces Freddie not to give up on Effy.

Katie has a job as a wedding planner. Their client is Brandy, a stereotypical WAG. Katie visits the doctor, thinking she is pregnant, only to discover she is experiencing a premature menopause and is infertile. Her family are bankrupt after her father Rob’s ill-spending. Katie goes to Brandy’s hen party, but gets into a fight, is barred, and gets her and her mother sacked. The Fitch’s house is repossessed and they are forced to move in with Naomi and Emily, whose relationship is strained. At a BBQ party, Emily gets drunk and high and makes out with another girl, leading Naomi to admit to the group she slept with Sophia and sold her drugs. Katie has a bath and Thomas accidentally locks them inside. They start to kiss, about to have sex, but Katie breaks down, telling Thomas about her condition. They agree to be friends. Katie consoles Emily and the Fitches move back into their house, the family beginning to re-unite.

Cook is in prison, charged with GBH for beating up Shanky Jenkins at the house party. Duncan, Cook’s legal aid, tells him to plead guilty, but Cook pleads not guilty instead. He is released with an electronic tag and sent to live with his mother Ruth, an amateur artist. At home, Cook bonds with his younger brother Paddy who adores him, but clashes with his perpetually drunken mother. When cook swaggers in to college he is expelled on the spot for his brush with the law. He visits Naomi who tells him they must deal with their guilt over Sophia. Duncan tells Cook there is no case and that he should grow up. Cook reacts saying he is a useless lawyer trashing his office. Cook visits his mother’s art exhibit and learns that she had slept with Freddie. Cook argues with his mother, leaves the house with Paddy and steals Ruth’s car, trashing it. Cook has a moment of insight when he sees his brother acting like him. He finds Naomi and they talk, bonding over how they both love someone. He tells the police he sold Sophia the MDMA, taking the flak for Naomi. Cook pleads guilty at trial and is imprisoned.

Naomi lies about not knowing Sophia during a police questioning and Emily becomes suspicious. Naomi admits she sold Sophia the drugs. Emily visits Sophia’s family, discovering that Sophia was gay and had known Naomi. Emily confronts Naomi again and she admits she knew Sophia but denies sleeping with her. They investigate Sophia’s Army Cadet locker which is a shrine to Naomi. Emily argues with her family about her sexuality and moves in with Naomi. At a house party, Cook beats up a random party-goer after seeing Freddie and Effy kissing. Emily calls Sophia’s brother Matt who brings a box to the roof of the club. Naomi intervenes begging Emily not to open the box. She does and inside is a hand-drawn story of how Sophia slept with Naomi. Emily is heart-broken and leaves. Emily later returns to Naomi, deciding to live with her.

Kenny vs. Spenny: Who Can Stay On An Island The Longest? (6x13)

Spenny planned for the two to travel to Ernst Thälmann Island near Cuba and attempt to survive in the wilderness, but Kenny told him that since Cuba is an island, they had to stay there to win the competition. Kenny claimed that his plan was to have a vacation at the expense of the network and then simply do a double-humiliation after having a great time in Cuba. Spenny rejected this and camped out in a tent on the resort. Eventually, he caved in and agreed with Kenny to have a fun time. Kenny suggested they go into the water, and as soon as Spenny swam far out into the water, Kenny said that Spenny had lost the competition because he had left the island.

Kenny vs. Spenny: Who Can Put On The Best Play? (6x12)

Spenny loves theatre and already had a play written. He performed a period piece about king Louis XVI during the French Revolution, and hired professional actors and coaches. Kenny performed a one-man play portraying the life of a Jewish man who is sent to a Nazi concentration camp in a satirical and ridiculous manner. A talent agent judged the two plays and found Kenny's play more enjoyable.

Kenny vs. Spenny: Who Can Produce The Best Commercial? (6x11)

The guys are tasked with creating and branding a frozen pizza, along with creating an advertising campaign. Kenny branded his pizza Fromaggio Al Forno ("cheese from the oven") to emulate a gourmet product. He created a number of unconventional commercials in a variety of genres, mostly being comedic or non-sequitur. Spenny created a healthy tofu-based whole-wheat pizza aimed at children which featured balloons and coloured and shaped tofu-pepperoni pieces. His commercial featured Spozo the clown bringing his pizza to a family at dinner. A focus group of children gave negative reviews of the commercial and the product concept, but Spenny ultimately went with it and forged feedback sheets from the children to show the judges. In the end, the three judges from an advertising firm felt that Kenny's ads would not appeal to a large demographic and did not promote the quality of the product. All three chose Spenny's campaign.

Kenny vs. Spenny: Who Can?" (6x10)

Spenny arrived at the house on a non-shooting day to find Kenny having spent much of the production budget on props, costumes and actors to decorate the house and act as emperor Magnus Maximus. The intended competition for the week involved a badminton competition, but Spenny could not understand what Kenny was doing. Thinking that Kenny had declared his own competition, Spenny declared several of his own, including "Who is the better emperor?", acting as Theodosius I, who had killed Maximus historically. However, when he confronted Kenny, Kenny's guards dragged Spenny to the basement and chained him up. After staying in the basement for a period of time, Spenny gave up and knelt before Kenny. Kenny revealed that it was his intent to humiliate Spenny without the need of a competition. He threw Spenny the keys to unlock his chains before fleeing the house.

Kenny vs. Spenny: Who Can Have More Fun? (6x09)

The boys see who can have more fun this week, and Kenny starts off by tormenting Spenny when Spenny is trying to do his fun (tactics like putting beef in his bed and making love to the bed where the meat is stuffed and also breaking Spenny's stuff). Spenny gives Kenny $1,000 to go to "Amsterdam" and Kenny takes the offer, but goes to the "Amsterdam" beer company, and showers himself in beer, meanwhile, Spenny is trying to have a dinner party but Kenny comes back and crashes it. Spenny eventually goes on a boat ride with three prostitutes and booze but gets too drunk and passes out before he could have more fun with the prostitutes. Meanwhile Kenny is crushing cars (and Spenny's laptop), and in the end Spenny admits Kenny had more fun.

Kenny vs. Spenny: Who Do Black Guys Like More? (6x07-08)

Spenny took the three black judges on a "Race Relations Retreat", where he discussed racism and his own racist inclinations. The judges believed that Spenny was being honest and were proud of his efforts to explore his attitudes towards other black people. While Spenny was gone, Kenny hired a black maid to clean the house and be interviewed. In the part two, Spenny wrapped up his retreat by dressing in Ku Klux Klan outfit to make a point about the ignorance of racists.
Kenny then took the judges to a comedy club so all four could tell the racist jokes they grew up hearing, and laugh at the sterotypes. He then took them back to the house and told them he had some hidden camera footage to show them. Kenny played a video he edited, intercutting shots of the black maid cleaning, and Spenny being demeaning and insulting (from earlier in the first episode, where he was speaking to Kenny who, in blackface, acted as a maid to taunt Spenny). The judges all voted for Kenny, with one even claiming that they would have voted for him even without the video, preferring to just hang out in a normal situation, as Kenny did.
